“There is too much month left at the end of the money.”
If you have ever felt that knot in your stomach when opening a bill, or stared at your bank account wondering how you’re going to make it work, you know the crushing weight of financial stress. Money issues are one of the leading causes of anxiety and divorce. It feels personal, and it feels terrifying.
But God is not silent about money. In fact, Jesus talked about money more than heaven or hell. Why? Because He knows it is the primary competitor for our hearts. He wants you to be free from the slavery of financial fear.

What does the Bible say about money?
The Bible teaches that God is the owner of everything, and we are simply managers (stewards). This shifts the pressure. If God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), He is not broke. He promises to provide for our needs—not always our greeds, but always our needs.
Verses for When You Are Worried About Bills
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
What this means: Paul wrote this while he was in prison, not a palace. He knew that God’s economy is different from the world’s economy. God doesn’t provide out of a limited bank account; He provides out of His “riches in glory,” which are infinite.
Prayer: Lord, I look to You as my Provider. Meet my needs today according to Your riches, not mine.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear… Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” — Matthew 6:25-26
What this means: Worry implies that God has forgotten you. Jesus points to the birds—they don’t stress, yet they eat. You are infinitely more valuable to God than a bird. If He takes care of the small things, He will take care of you.
Prayer: I am valuable to You. Help me to trust You like the birds do.

Verses for Stewardship and Wisdom
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” — Hebrews 13:5
What this means: The antidote to financial stress is contentment. This doesn’t mean you stop working hard; it means you stop believing the lie that “more money = more safety.” Your safety comes from His presence (“Never will I leave you”), not your savings account.
Prayer: Teach me contentment, Lord. You are my security, not my bank balance.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven…” — Malachi 3:10
What this means: This is the only place in the Bible where God says “Test me.” It is scary to give when you don’t have enough, but giving breaks the grip of greed. It opens the door for God to be involved in your finances.
Prayer: I choose to honor You with my finances. Open the floodgates, Lord.
3 Ways to manage money with faith
- Pray Over Your Budget: Before you pay bills, stop and pray. “Lord, thank you for this money. Help me manage it wisely.”
- Give First: Even if it is small, giving reminds your soul that money is a tool, not a god.
- Journal Your Needs: Write down exactly what you need in our S.O.A.P. Journal. Look back in a month and see how God provided. It builds your “faith muscle.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it a sin to be in debt? The Bible doesn’t call debt a sin, but it calls it a heavy burden (“The borrower is slave to the lender” - Proverbs 22:7). God wants you free, which includes financial freedom.
Why isn’t God answering my prayer for money? Sometimes God provides through a miracle, but often He provides through wisdom, a job opportunity, or learning to budget better. Be open to how He answers.
Does God want me to be poor? No. God wants you to be fruitful. Whether you have little or much, the goal is to use it to bless others and glorify Him.
Conclusion
Your net worth does not determine your self-worth. Trust the One who owns it all.
